Well, it rained yesterday and today in the village of Vasieni. While some might say the rain is beautiful, it smells amazing, yada yada…I’m not a big fan. When one has to walk 30 minutes to get home, the rain loses its appeal rather quickly.
Ok, thats enough complaining from me. I actually had a great day. We learned words and phrases for food today in Romanian class, and it was really a lot of fun. Apparently “lunch” in Romanian is “Prinza”, which became rather amusing when my friend and fellow volunteer, Andy, referred to his lunch as the “Fresh Prinza of Belair”….yeah….well…you had to be there.
I got my work done rather quickly when I got home, and then spent a good amount of time playing Fifa on the computer with my host brothers. If there is one thing I’ve noticed, Moldovans love soccer. My brothers play soccer at least a few times a week, and when they arent playing for real, they are playing the Fifa computer game. Today was an especially memorable moment in my life, because I had the opportunity to play as the Kansas City Wizards, while blasting Tech N9ne in the background….while getting destroyed by my 15 year old host brother. My host brother now loves Tech N9ne by the way. …… we reppin KC MO, fellas and the ladies know!
It wasnt all fun and games though, as the loser of each game had to do pushups in sets of 10, corresponding to the number of points you lost by. So, if the score was 3 – 2, I would have to do 10 pushups. If it were 4-2, I would have to do 20 pushups. Well….the final score of the last game was 9 – 1……I managed 30 pushups haha. Luckily my brothers are good sports; after all, I went easy on my 7 year old brother when I beat him by 5 points.
Sorry, no pictures this time!
I promise you all, I didnt just come to Moldova to play games. I have class all day long, and will be moving to my permanent site in just 3 months. There, I’ll be working with local government and possibly an NGO.
In any case, feel free to write!😀
